100 Movie Challenge: March 2021 Edition
Another month went by, and another month I did not keep the pace of 8 movies per month. March was full of an interesting bit of movies so we’ll jump right in.
Coming 2 America
Of the movies in March, this was the one I was most excited about. It was also the one that was the most disappointing. For nostalgia purposes, I had to watch, but ever since the days, Eddie Murphy switched over to family-friendly movies the core of these movies just doesn’t hit like they used to. Not because we’ve grown up and the world is changing, but this felt more of a celebration of the first movie’s anniversary than a true sequel. I’m glad I saw it, but it’s not something I’d watch again.
Cherry
Tom Holland is a gem as Spider-Man. The Russo Brothers elevated the MCU to the next level. Put them together and it ought to be a fantastic movie, right? Sort of. While Cherry was good it took a bit to get going. It’s good to see Holland take up an adult role, but there’s no rush to watch this one.

Kid 90
No one loves a well-placed documentary more than I do. While it’s not a true “movie” so to speak, Kid 90 has the full feature-length set in the challenge so I’ll allow it. Everyone knows just how rough it is to be a child star in Hollywood. Soleil Moon of Punky Brewster fame only furthers that sentiment documenting her childhood as well as her famous friend in the 90s. With insight into what it looks like behind the scenes, Kid 90 shows just how much of a toll it can take on young and impressionable minds.
Zach Snyder Cut Justice League
Finally, #ReleasetheSnyderCut made it happen for the audiences who always wanted to see Snyder’s vision of Justice League. The movie itself wasn’t perfect but it was so much better than the crap we were force-fed from Joss Whedon. While the movie was longer, it did carry plenty of the same plot points. Where it differs is just how much we get to know about the band of heroes. The backstories dragged at times, but without the solo films, it didn’t seem out of place. The threat of Darkseid was more present making their mission more intense. Snyder’s vision for Justice League was clearly grander than Whedon’s
Kong vs Godzilla
What do you get when two titans collide, a monster movie that has some serious butt-kicking. Kong vs Godzilla wastes no time getting to the action and it has plenty of excitement. However, I couldn’t help but feel like the movie itself was rushed. Not the plot itself, but the production as if the studio wanted it to meet a deadline and they had to cap it off. There wasn’t a huge distraction of unwanted storyline and there were some pretty great action transitions. The only question now is, where do they go from here if at all?
One more month, five more movies. Hopefully, soon I can buckle down and get back on pace but there’s a ton of good movies coming up in 2021 and hopefully, theaters reopen soon. Check back in May for April’s 100 Movie Challenge reviews.
