2019 NFL Draft: Baltimore Ravens select Marquise Brown in Round 1; Jaylon Ferguson and Miles Boykin on Day 2
I would give the Baltimore Ravens a “B+” for their first 3 picks as they solidified the receiver position and got a pass rusher to replace the production of Terell Suggs (Arizona Cardinals) and Za’Darius Smith (Green Bay Packers).
The Baltimore Ravens gave Lamar Jackson some help at wide receiver in round 1 by taking Oklahoma wide receiver Marquise Brown. The Ravens traded down with the Philadelphia Eagles from pick 22 to pick 25 as the Ravens offense is now more dynamic with the speedy playmaker. This was a good selection as they trading down and still got the player they wanted. Accounting for Lamar Jackson and Hollywood will give NFL defenses nightmares as it should open up the field for their run-heavy offense with Mark Ingram and Gus Edwards. Brown is a threat to score on any play, whether it is short or deep as he was productive with back to back seasons of over 1,000 receiving yards.
The Ravens were not done as they had two 3rd round picks on day 2 of the 2019 NFL Draft, picking another wide receiver and an edge rusher.
Baltimore picked Louisiana Tech edge rusher Jaylon Ferguson with the 85th selection. Ferguson had a career total of 45 sacks in four years at LA Tech and was the FBS sack leader in 2018 with 17.5 sacks. The Ravens then traded up with the Minnesota Vikings (original pick was with the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets) and double down at wide receiver with Notre Dame receiver Miles Boykin (with the pick 93). Boykin had 8 touchdowns in 2018 and was a combine freak with his measurables that can complement Hollywood well with his size and speed combination. I would expect the Baltimore Ravens to fill the rest of their needs at interior offensive, linebacker, depth at interior defensive line, depth at running back, and some depth at defensive back.
The Baltimore Ravens have three 4th round picks, a 5th round pick, and three 6th round picks for day 3 of the 2019 NFL Draft.
