NBA Rumors: Chicago Bulls shopping Rajon Rondo and Nikola Mirotic?
With the NBA trade deadline looming around the corner, there are reports that the Chicago Bulls are looking at making some roster moves to help them make a possible run in the second half of the NBA season.
According to sources, the Bulls have been shopping around guard Rajon Rondo and forward Nikola Mirotic. However, it seems that general manager Gar Forman is not happy with what teams are offering for these players. “Obviously, you know that would be the case with Rondo.” the source said. The problem that the Bulls are facing is that they are not pleased with what they are getting as returns for both Rondo and Mirotic. The problems started after Rondo lost his job last month and turned around to the Bulls front office and said that he would like to be elsewhere. Unfortunately, due to Rondo’s reputation, it’s making a deal tougher for any team that is willing to take him on.
On the other hand, Mirotic never lived up to his potential. So it would be very interesting to see what any team would be willing to offer the Bulls for someone who was ranked 30th among power forwards when it comes to plus/minus in the NBA. When I overlook what teams need, I don’t see a team that would give up much to get Mirotic. We are still approximately over a month away from the NBA trade deadline, so it will be interesting to see how this all plays out and if Rondo does play for a new team in the second half of the NBA season.
In my opinion, if the Bulls are able to do something with either Rondo and/or Mirotic, they may be able to make a run. As of this writing, the Bulls currently sit in the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference and would play the NBA Champion, Cleveland Cavaliers. So, even if they don’t move one of these guys, they could still make the playoffs, but you don’t want someone like Rondo to become a distraction as the Bulls try to make a push.
