AAA: Legendary Wrestler La Parka Has Died
When you think of Lucha Libre wrestling, you think of guys like Rey Mysterio, Blue Demon, Eddie Guerrero, and others. One of the guys who most fans think of is La Parka. The wrestler who portrayed La Parka, Jesus Alfonso Huerta Escoboza, has died on January 11 at the age of 54. While nothing has been confirmed, the feeling is that he didn’t end up getting better from his spot from an MLW show in 2019. He ended up doing a suicide dive and it didn’t land the right way. Besides being known as La Parka, he was also known as La Parka II. This was done to tell him and the original La Parka apart. It’s worth noting that Adolfo Tapia was the one who originally did the La Parka gimmick.
Escoboza began his wrestling career in 1987. In the early days, he worked the independent scene of Mexico. It wouldn’t be until 1995 where he would end up becoming apart of AAA. He would end up getting the La Parka gimmick in 1996 and would be billed as La Parka Jr. This was done because the guy who held the gimmick beforehand didn’t own the rights to the gimmick. In 2003, he would end up joining the CMLL, which was the main rival to the AAA. This was done because Antonio Pena took legal action against Adolfo Tapia. What makes him different is we never saw him in any of the major promotions. The closest we ended up getting was he would appear in a 2018 episode of Impact Wrestling. This was when they were doing the show in Mexico and he answered Eli Drake’s open challenge. He would end up winning the match via a count-out.
La Parka II was one of the biggest stars in the Mexican Wrestling scene. In the world of Lucha Libre, the mask is very vital to the wrestler. They would have what was known as Luchas de Apuestas which would be used to settle heated rivalries. La Parka II was in nine of them and had a perfect record.
The wrestling world will miss him as he touched a lot of lives.
