Breaking News: Adam West has passed away
On this Saturday afternoon, there are reports that we lost another icon. According to many reports, Adam West has passed away at the age of 88 after battling leukemia. He is known for portraying Batman in the TV series and he did several voice-overs playing himself in such shows like the Simpsons, Family Guy, and Fairly OddParents. He was active in the Hollywood scene from 1954 up until his death.
He was born on September 9,1928 in Walla Walla, Washington. He had a bit of Swedish in him from his father’s side and English with very small amounts of Welsh, German, Irish, and Scottish from his mother. He would end up getting drafted into the army and would end up serving as an announcer for the American Forces Network television. Once he would be discharged from the army, he would get some work in as a milkman before moving to Hawaii to pursue a career in Television.
He would have small roles in several TV shows and small movies before getting his break with Batman in 1966. Some of the TV shows that he would star on before Batman would end up including Bonzana, Perry Mason, Gunsmoke, and Bewitched. Some of the films that he would end up doing before Batman was The Young Philadelphia, Geronimo, and The Outlaws are coming. The Batman TV series would only be on the air from 1966-1968. It is also known that he was offered the role of James Bond in Diamonds Are Forever. Adam West would end up turning down the role and stated later on that he did this because he felt the James Bond character needed to be played by a British actor.
Due to the distinctive voice that he had, he would also have a career in doing voice over work. He would end up playing himself in such shows like the Simpsons, Family Guy, and Fairly OddParents to name a few. He would end up voicing himself or someone that looked very much like him.
Adam West passed away on June 10,2017 at the age of 88 after a short battle with leukemia.
