Adrian Peterson Scores 100th Rushing Touchdown (Video)

Adrian Peterson signed a deal with the Washington Redskins in for the 2018 season. It appears the deal has already paid off for both sides. On Sunday Peterson scored his 100th career rushing touchdown in the NFL and helped extend Washington’s lead.

With Peterson’s 100th rushing touchdown, Washington doubled its lead to 14-0, cruising to a Week 1 victory so far in the game. Peterson is considered a GOAT by many and he’s now t-7th for rushing touchdowns in NFL history.

While this wasn’t his most impressive scoring play by any means, it’s a historic moment for Peterson. He rushed for a touchdown for the 100th time and helped extend Washington’s lead in the second quarter. Unsurprisingly, he was being used often in the game before this moment. It wouldn’t be strange to see Peterson score another touchdown or two in this game either.

Washington will need to see more of this from Peterson this season. If they do, then they may have a decent chance to fight for the division’s top spot or a wild-card berth. It’s too early to tell how the full season will play out. However, things look good for Redskins fans watching the game this week.

With Alex Smith and Peterson new to town, Washington has two weapons that could spurn success. Both have found success in the past but that’s not guaranteed when landing with a new team. The NFC East is always a tough division to play in and there are no easy wins against the four foes.

Whenever Peterson does decide to retire, he’ll go down as one of the best to play in the NFL. He should easily get a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Not everyone rushes for 100 touchdowns and breaks tackles like he has done throughout his career.

For now, though, Adrian Peterson is showing that he still has it in him. His season’s first touchdown hit a historic mark for the dynamic back.
