AEW: Cody to take on Chris Jericho for the title at Full Gear
We are still coming off of All Out. With All Out behind us, AEW is next focusing on their TV debut that happens on October 2nd on TNT. From all indications, this will be a rather important show. However, we found out that AEW will be holding a ppv on November 9th called Full Gear. This ppv is set to occur in Baltimore, Maryland.
As of this writing, we know that Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley will finally clash in the ring. They were suppose to clash at All Out, however, Jon Moxley needed to get pulled due to a MRSA infection. It was reported through Sports Illustrated that Chris Jericho will defend the AEW World Champion against Cody. According to the report, Cody earned the title shot because of how many wins-loses he has had. Since AEW is still trying to establish credibility, I can’t see them having him drop the belt. However, I see a scenario where you can have Cody take on Jericho, not have a winner and make Jericho look strong.
As we saw at All Out, Cody was able to defeat his former friend, Shawn Spears. Many people didn’t expect the feud to be done right there and then. Who is to say that we get to Full Gear and as it seems that Cody is about to get the win, Shawn screws Cody. Suddenly, we get a run-in and the match goes down as DQ. By going this route, you can further the Shawn Spears/Cody feud and you can keep the belt on Jericho. If I were AEW, I would keep the belt on Jericho for as long as you can. You are still a young company and are building up credibility.
Jericho brings you name value where casual fans even know of him. I’m talking about people who haven’t watched wrestling in years.
Jon is a diehard wrestling fan but still takes time to show his devotion to the Giants, Mets, and Knicks
