AEW: Could a TV deal see a reignition of the “Monday Night Wars”?

AEW has been around since the beginning of 2019. In that time, they have signed several top guys from the indies and announced two shows. As of this writing, there’s only been minor talks about a TV deal. However, there are now rumors circulating that at next month’s upfronts, Turner Sports, is set to present AEW to sponsors.

If this becomes reality, then TBS or TNT will get into the world of pro wrestling. TBS has not had wrestling apart of their programming since 2001 with WCW. Jim Ross was recently interviewed by WFAN and made the mention of how AEW will have a live-weekly two-hour show. By having this on a major network like TBS, wrestling fans will have another outlet.

With how people are getting upset with some of the WWE bookings lately, AEW can’t screw this up. On the latest Comeback Wrestling Show, both Jon, and Cruz talked about how AEW needs to hit it out of the park this fall. A lot of the success to AEW is what network they get on. However, there’s another way we could see a war break out between AEW and WWE.

There were reports coming out that AEW offered Dean Ambrose a nice amount of money. If they are true, then this could change the landscape. As we saw in the WCW days, they would offer massive amounts of money to WWF guys. We saw a lot of guys jump ship. Dean Ambrose could be the first one to jump ship. It will be interesting to see who else jumps ship.

This could be a war because AEW may be on a network that everyone gets. In addition, the Khan family may be willing to spend money on talent.

This fall will be interesting for wrestling fans. Comeback Wrestling Show airs every Wednesday nights from 9 pm est to 11 pm est.
