AEW: How would I book the Revolution PPV
In 2019, All Elite Wrestling became the hottest wrestling promotion. 2020 doesn’t seem to be different. In the first year of AEW, we saw the company hold five events. These events were Double or Nothing, Fight For the Fallen, Fyter Fest, All Out, and Full Gear. In regards to 2020, we know that they will be holding their first one of the year in Revolution. This will be taking place on February 29,2020, in Chicago. While we are still over a month away from the event, AEW hasn’t announced any matches as of this writing.
If I were booking this event, I would have five matches. One of the issues I have with the WWE is they will have 8-10 matches on a card. When you have that many matches, some of them tend to not have value and it’s filler time. One promotion that gets the right amount of matches on a card is NXT. As we have seen at many of their Takeover events, we tend to only see five, maybe six matches on the card at best.
Now here is how I would book the card:
Jurassic Express vs. SCU for the AEW Tag titles: I’m aware that SCU takes on Page and Omega on AEW Dynamite this week. But I would love to see Jurassic Express get a shot. They seem to be one of the crowd favorites, why not pull the trigger and let them go for the title.
MJF vs. Cody (Warlord is banned from ringside): When MJF turned on Cody at Full Gear, it became inevitable that we would see these two have a match at the next PPV. While Warlord is “banned” from ringside, I would have him come in to help MJF get the win. This would lead to a steel cage match between Cody and MJF at Double or Nothing in May.
Kris Stalander vs. Riho vs. Britt Baker vs. Awesome Kong for the AEW Woman’s title (Elimination match)- You need something to spark the woman’s division. You can have Awesome Kong get pinned and then we see the Nightmare Collective Family screw Kris Stalander. Then you can Britt Baker pin Riho for the title.
Jericho vs. Moxley for the AEW title- If you have watched AEW in the last couple of weeks, this seems that this is the direction they are going.
Sammy Guevara, Santana, Ortiz vs. Dustin Rhodes and the Young Bucks: Since AEW Dynamite began, it seemed that the on-going feud is Inner Circle vs. the Elite. Since Jericho and Cody have other things to worry about, I would have this match.
