AEW: What can you do now that Omega and Page are tag team champions
On the most recent episode of AEW Dynamite, we would end up seeing new tag team champions. To open the show, we would see SCU (Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky) take on the team of Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page. The reason why Omega and Page were in this match was that they won a fatal four-way the week beforehand. With how close the Revolution is, many wrestling fans figured that SCU would also have the belts heading into that event.
No one saw this coming.
On one hand, people didn’t expect SCU to be the ones to have the first title change in AEW history. People figured it would have been Riho or possibly Jericho. I know there’s a lot of people who don’t like this because it’s a makeshift team that won the title. WWE just did the same thing recently with Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy. However, I feel there’s more to the story here. As we have seen, Adam Page is in the midst of turning heel. I could see a scenario play out where we could see Page turn heel and lead to an Omega/Page match. Possibly at Double or Nothing in May?
If I had the pencil, here’s how I would book it. I would have Omega and Page get a few wins under their belt as tag champions. The belts are still new and still need to be built as being credible. I could see a scenario where we see a rift between the two heading into Revolution. At Revolution, we see them defending the titles in a fatal four-way between SCU, Jurassic Express, Pride N Powerful, and Omega/Page. As we are getting close to the end of the match, it seems that Omega is going to get the pin, when all of sudden Page pushes him off. He does this because he hates how Omega and the other members of the Elite get the spotlight.
This arguing leads to Jungle Boy pinning Omega and getting the win. On the next episode of Dynamite, Omega opens the show and calls out Page to the ring. At this point we see Page comes to the ring and doesn’t explain his action. All we get is a big brawl because Omega is boiling. Then we get the announcement in late March that these two will be clashing at Double or Nothing with a stipulation. The winner of the match gets to take on whoever is the AEW Champion.
