AEW has been the talk of the wrestling world since beginning operations on New Year’s Day 2019. In that time frame, they have had the biggest impact on the wrestling world. AEW have been on TV since October and have become a must see show every Wednesday night. They were off last week due to Christmas, but are going to be back on January 1st with a show in Jacksonville. They are touting this as their homecoming episode. This show is fully stacked with matches like Cody taking on Darby Allin, The Elite (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks) take on PAC and the Lucha Brothers, Riho will be defending her AEW women’s title in a fatal-four way, and Moxley takes on Trent. Those are some of the many matches planned for the first show in 2020.

While there are going to be a ton of great matches, we are also going to be seeing Taz make an appearance. If you recall, Taz made an appearance during the AEW Dark show in Philadelphia and during the kickoff show to Full Gear in November. It seems that this apperance could be to announce him as an on-screen talent. Wrestle Votes sent out a tweet that he has heard that AEW could be announcing Taz as their commissioner (authority figure). A role like this could be great for Taz.

The end of 2019 has been interesting for the Human Suplex Machine. He left his national sports show a few weeks back and announced that The Taz Show podcast is also leaving as well and heading to a new platform. My guess on that is he will be joining with Conrad Thompson, but that’s only a guess. I’m all for AEW having a commissioner, I just hope they don’t go the same route that WWE has gone.

This is only a rumor, but it seems to be gaining steam. We will know more on the January 1st episode.
