Alabama Crimson Tide: Three Keys To Victory Against Georgia In National Championship Game
The Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs will face off Monday night for the College Football National Championship. While this is an all-SEC battle, it will come down to experience and the ground game. Can Nick Saban avenge last season’s loss to the Clemson Tigers and walk away with his 5th title?
Here are three keys to victory for the Alabama Crimson Tide against the Georgia Bulldogs.
Use Experience: The Tide have been here before. Last season they faced the Clemson Tigers in the National Championship and lost but this is a new year. What the Tide must draw on is their experience in big games. The Georgia Bulldogs are no strangers to Bowl games, however, they have never played in the new playoff format. Alabama however, will be making its 4th appearance since the start in 2014.
[MarkAds]Stop the run: The Tide has always been built on defense under Saban and they will need to be at their best when facing Georgia. The Bulldogs have two 1000-yard rushers in Nick Schubb and Sony Michel. If the Tide can slow the ground game down, it will force the freshman, Jake Fromm to be more than he has been this season. Bama has a way of making smart quarterbacks look dumb and if the defense can hold the Bulldogs to under 100 yards on the day, they have a shot.
Run, Run and Run Some More: If the defense has been the team’s calling card, then running the ball has been their foundation. Alabama, through the years, has won games on offense, not through the air but on the ground. If Saban can get Bo Scarbrough, Damien Harris, and Jalen Hurts going early and often, the Tide will walk away as champs. As good as Georgia is, they surrender over 120 yards rushing per game. A matchup like this is perfect for the TIde who attempts 44 rushes per game for an average of 255 yards a contest. Don’t force Hurts into a shootout should be their motto for Monday.
