All American Homecoming: Can Thea And Simone Work Together?
In the All-American Universe, there will always be a bit of jealousy and hostility. In All-American, it was the friendship between Layla and Olivia that had to run its course. While Spencer came between the two friends, they had to find their way back. It took a while but they made their peace. In All-American: Homecoming, it’s the same between Simone and Thea. Damon is the new Spencer and these two women must find a way to rekindle their awkward friendship for the betterment of the Tennis Team and the show.
Simone is now Public Enemy No.1 on the team. While some of the girls blame her for Thea’s injury, Simone now finds herself on the outs with the other girls once again. In Season 1, it was Simone vs Thea. However, they managed to find solid footing with each other and forged a friendship. Despite their bond, the elephant in the room was still their feelings for Damon.
It appears now as if the writers have put that specific love triangle on the shelf for now and decided to focus on a different storyline. With Thea not being able to play or even practice for that matter, Simone is fighting a new Thea and she can’t do it alone. She needs the original “mean girl” to help. Thea’s words and actions hold weight on that team and with her gone, a new “it girl” has taken over the reins.
Tennis-wise, just like with Thea, Simone is out-matched. The coach wants Simone to prove she’s a leader but she has been going about it all wrong. She’s taken the same approach that Thea did with her but in order for the team to find solid footing and become the powerhouse Bringston University can be on the court, Thea and Simone must work together.
What’s weird is that the opportunity for them to reconcile has always been there. Putting Damon in the middle is not the way to go. It’s pretty obvious that he’s all in when it comes to his relationship with Thea. While adding a new love interest for Simone was the smart thing to do, it’s now time for the writers to mend broken friendships.
Although President Amara announced there will be no more Family Dinners, that won’t last for long. Thea and Simone are in the same circle and will need to find a way to start communicating. Everything is riding on them. From the success of the team to the family bond that’s shared. Thea and Simone have the power to either destroy everything or bring it all together. For All-American: Homecoming to work, it’s really up to these two women.
