All American: Homecoming: Thea is Not Getting A Fair Shot With Damon
From the start of All American: Homecoming, the writers led us to believe that Simone and Damon would be the new Jordan and Simone. But that right there is the big issue. Simone had Jordan when she first stepped on the campus of Bringston University during their initial visit. And, she still had Jordan when she made the decision to attend. So, to label them the next “it” couple is not fair to everyone else, especially Thea.
In the beginning, Thea was not well-liked by Simone, her friends, the viewers, or anybody on the campus for that matter. But as time went on, we learned that the was just a bit misunderstood. She was accepted into the inner circle and by doing so, a bit of chemistry was struck between her and Damon. While some viewers believe she’s just going through a “damsel in distress” phase with Damon, I beg to differ.
What she is feeling appears to be real. However, lurking in the back is Simone. Her friendship with Damon is not as innocent as the outside may perceive it to be. Feelings are there from both parties but Damon, not knowing that she has broken things off with Jordan has decided to move on. And good for him. To be honest, the Damon and Simone pairing does not seem like a good fit.
I’m not here to say that Simone is better than Thea but when the cards are all on the table, the pros outweigh the cons.
Simone has not been upfront about anything even dating back to her time on All American. If we really want to be truthful, she is still the girl who tried to pin a baby on Jordan knowing he wasn’t the father. Sorry that we had to go there but that is a serious character flaw. And let’s not forget, even when the whole gang visited the campus, she was giving off single vibes to Damon the entire time and her husband was with her.

Thea, on the other hand, has been snobby at best but other than that, that seems to be her main flaw. Like most characters, we’re pretty sure she has some backstory, but we haven’t seen it yet. What we do know is that Thea does not have much experience in the dating world and that may be one of the things that drew her to Damon. And let’s not forget, Thea already has Damon’s mother’s approval.
Putting Simone and Damon together just seems so cliche. The curveball thrown by pairing Damon and Thea together does make for better TV. Simone needs to find herself. What are the writers thinking? Did they forget that she just got out of a marriage, then broke off her relationship with Jordan and now she’s ready to jump into another one? Yes, Jordan appears to be doing the same but that’s not right either.
Unless we missed something, Damon was single and so was Thea. No extra baggage there. A fresh breakup causes issues and that’s not exactly what Damon needs at this time. What he needs is someone who is honest with him and that there is where the writers have failed Thea.
Thea knows that Simone and Jordan have broken up but the writers are going to let her keep that a secret from Damon and we all know how this is going to play out. Damon will find out, get mad, and run into the arms of Simone. And by that time, she may have moved on to someone else, probably JR.
But you see where this is going? While the show title says All American: Homecoming, it still has that high school feel of All American. Is there really a need for relationship drama? For once, why can’t we just get a show with a healthy relationship and watch it bloom? Thea is a good fit for Damon and in one second, the writers snatched her innocence away and any real chance they had by having her lie to him.
