Animal Kingdom: J Will Regret Saving Smurf Once The Truth Comes Out

One thing we can say about Animal Kingdom is that it’s been a fun-filled ride so far. This season has fans wondering who really killed Baz? Is Pope a good uncle, will J ever break free of Smurf’s trance, and what’s the deal with Craig and Deran? It wasn’t until Tuesday’s episode (Jackpot) that I wanted Smurf dead.

See, in her eyes and by her own admission, what she does, she does it for the family. But we know that to be false.

Smurf started the season in prison on murder charges and the boys were left to fend for themselves. While doing so, questions began to arise as to who murdered Baz. By all accounts, when it first happened, it looked as if Lucy had something to do with it. But, as we would learn, it was the Mexicans that Smurf hires for extra protection. But the kicker to the twist is that it was a young female who actually pulled the trigger. What makes that more interesting is that the same girl who killed Baz, is the same one who has slept in Smurf’s house and is sleeping with J. But no one knows this.

Now that Smurf is out, the boys are walking on eggshells and all Smurf wants is her money and possessions. The boys are still searching for the truth about Baz’s killing. While Smurf continues to point the finger at Lucy, she did it as a distraction to lure the boys into her plan to get her money that Lucy and Baz stole.

The plan worked as Smurf got back her things but in the process, Pope was kidnapped and in order to get him back, Lucy made Smurf admit to killing Baz. After Pope was rescued, he told Smurf in the car that he knows the truth. When this happened, I was left wondering if there was a listening device planted on Pope and maybe that’s the reason Lucy wanted Smurf to admit what she did.

While Pope may know the truth, the one who will feel the pain and anger from all of this will be J.

See, the truth has never come out whether or not Baz is his father. While it looks that way, then what Smurf did will send J into a blind rage. While he and Baz didn’t always get along, would he be able to forgive his grandmother for killing the father he didn’t get a chance to know as his dad and not his uncle?

On the flip side of the coin is Mia. Maybe Smurf doesn’t know herself but she is the one who actually pulled the trigger on Baz. What will happen when J finds that out? Not only has he been sleeping with the enemy, but his grandmother is the one who paid her to do it.

When the truth comes out, J will have his uncles breathing down his neck for bringing Baz’s killer around. Then he will be forced to turn his attention to Smurf who orchestrated all his pain. First, his mother dies, then he may have lost his dad who was killed by his new girlfriend and one who was paid by his grandmother.

When J covered Smurf with his body during the shootout, he did so out of instinct and love. But when the darkness becomes light, J will kick himself for not letting Marco kill Smurf.
