Bad Boys 4: Is This The New Generation?
With the success of Bad Boys 3, there was no doubt that a fourth installment was on the way. Recently, it was announced that Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have agreed to bring Bad Boys 4 to the big screen in the near future. This is a smart move on a few fronts.
For starters, Will Smith is still a huge Box Office draw, and Martin Lawrence, while not as big, is still worth the price of admission.
In Bad Boys For Life, Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett joined forces again but this time it was a bit different. For the last two films, Marcus has been hinting at retirement so he can relax and spend time with his family. In BB4L, Burnett actually made that decision and retired. But for Lowery, he still loves the perks of the job. But an incident happens where he gets shot and now he wants revenge.

But a great thing happened in Bad Body 3. The storyline was set up where a new and young cast was introduced. With Burnett retired, Mike was forced to work with the AMMO Squad who are a bunch of young, highly-trained officers with tactical and computer skills to boot.
Moving forward, the franchise can pick up here with Mike as the new leader or taking over as Captain of the force. And the same goes for Barnett. Maybe he can become the new Captian and give orders while still being there for his family. But then there is the new wrinkle in the storyline that proved this may be a passing of the torch type of situation.
It was revealed in the latest film that Mike has a son from an undercover operation years ago. That was a huge portion of the storyline and in the end, Mike didn’t kill Armando Armas but had his son locked up. Before the film ended with credits, Mike asked Armas if he wanted to make up for the bad deeds he did.
That set the stage for what not only Bad Boys 4 could mean but the franchise as a whole. It can go the same route that the Rocky franchise did with Creed and pass the torch to the younger generation.
