Biggest Questions Through Season 1 Of Ted Lasso
Apple TV+ wrapped up another season of original programming Friday as Ted Lasso wrapped up its first season. Bringing to the table the feel-good story we all needed right now, we still can’t help be disappointed it’s over already. Apple continues to push out shows that we regularly want to watch but does little to replace them and fill the voids they leave.
From Google:
“Small-time football coach Ted Lasso is hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer.”
As always, if you’re not caught up on the season 1 finale, feel free to skip out and come back to this one.

Alright now that the spoiler warning is out of the way, season 1 of Ted Lasso ended on a high for the show, but a low for the plot. Losing out on the season and being relegated to the Championship League hit us right in the feels. While the show is a typical coach out of his league sports trope, it didn’t give the feel-good ending that makes these short of things predictable.
By leaving the cliffhanger ending of a loss and demotion, viewers are more emotionally invested in a good comeback story, which leads to our first question. Just how long into season 2 will Richmond be demoted? It’s unlikely they’d invest a whole season into being a league where audiences couldn’t invest in the central characters like Jamie Tartt.
Jamie was left in the Premier League but his character is very much a large part of the season one story arc. At the very most, his lack of appearance should last an episode or two. Does season two pick up mid-way through their relegation or the tail end of it? If not, will the show get stale dragging the story through a full season arc of a comeback?
Then, of course, the ending. Clearly, Rebecca has a new found appreciation for her team and is giving Ted Lasso another year to turn it around, but what comes next. Her ex-husband is still in the picture and it’s not just to rub her face in his newfound love life. Does Rupert fight to get his club back now that it has been demoted?

Rebecca’s plan all along was to tank the team to get back at him but who wouldn’t draw up a plot point where he tries to regain control? Nothing says revenge like getting one over on your ex. Could season two tackle the battle for control of the team?
Finally and more predictably Roy Kent. Roy’s story was left up in the air in a fashion we’ve all come to know and love. The old dog on the team finally realized it’s time to hang them up. But something is still hanging from season 1. When talking about demoting Roy to the second unit, there was the back and forth between him and Ted Lasso about being moved to another club. Will his injury derail those plans, will he actually hang them up? How do they keep his character involved now that his fate was left hanging?
Season 2 of Ted Lasso has been announced but no date has been set for its release, much like the rest of the Apple TV+ shows. They’re renewed but no one knows when we’ll see them next. Stay tuned for any announcement news.
