Bills and Dolphins Rivalry Renewed
Throughout the ‘90s, Dan Marino and Jim Kelly lead their teams to one of the best rivalries in the NFL. The Miami Dolphins vs the Buffalo Bills was a game fans marked on their calendars. It was always a back and forth between the two powerhouse quarterbacks, and it was one that ended with neither quarterback getting their Super Bowl ring.
At the end of an era, both quarterbacks would walk away leaving a void in the AFC East that was quickly filled by a new era of dominance by the New England Patriots and Tom Brady. Those Pats would go on and dominate the AFC East for the better part of two decades. In that same time, both of the teams would struggle to find their franchise quarterback.

Fast forward to 2020. The Bills have their QB of the future in Josh Allen and the Dolphins think they have theirs in Tua Tagovaila. Sunday’s match-up between the two showed this rivalry might be coming back full circle. While Ryan Fitzpatrick hasn’t turned the reigns over to Tua just yet, the writing is on the wall.
Yes, the Dolphins would ultimately end up losing a close match-up 31-28 but the back and forth between the two was reminiscent of the ‘90s for the first time in two decades. The Bills would pull away, and the Dolphins would finally make a stand. Miami would rumble back and Buffalo would quickly answer.
If Tua is half as good as they claim he is, it’s only a matter of time. Miami has invested heavily in a line that could see him develop. All signs are pointing to him picking up the offense quickly and excelling. The only problem is, Fitz has a game like he did on Sunday, refusing to go down without a fight.
Right now the Dolphins are in rebuild mode while the Bills are red hot but the rivalry is coming. Tua will take the reigns either by the end of the season or the start of next. Both have explosive receivers and young talent that can carry them for the next decade. If Sunday’s game is a glimpse of the future, then this match up is back on and fans should be excited.
