Boston Celtics Are Dynasty Bound Thanks To The Brooklyn Nets And Philadelphia 76ers

In a season where injuries, contracts, and trade talks were the talk of the NBA, one team and its GM sat back enjoying a good laugh. The Boston Celtics and Danny Ainge pulled quite the summer of deals off last offseason thanks to the Brooklyn Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Philadelphia 76ers.

It started right before the 2017 NBA Draft when Danny Ainge suckered the Sixers into one of the worse trades in modern-day history. With the Sixers situated with the No. 3 pick, the Celtics dangled the No. 1 pick in their faces and for some strange reason, Bryan Colangelo bit.

Boston, fresh off a 53-win campaign in 2016, with their core still intact and with the top pick, entered the draft knowing they didn’t need Markelle Fultz or Lonzo Ball. On the other hand, the Celtics knew that the Lakers and Sixers were in search of backcourt help. The Sixers agreed to trade their 2017 No. 3 pick plus a future first-rounder (Lakers or Kings) to the Celtics all for the chance to draft Markell Fultz. So, the Sixers gave up two first-rounders for a player neither the Celtics nor the Lakers wanted and one who played less than 20 games all year.

Even with the departure of Isaiah Thomas, the Boston Celtics didn’t miss a beat. With Kyrie Irving leading the way, the Celtics were on the fast track to the best record in the Eastern Conference until Irving went down with a season-ending injury. They would still make it to the ECF but youth was their downfall. Fear not Celtics’ fans, this is just the beginning.

With Irving expected back at full strength next season, he will be paired with Tatum, Al Horford, Brown, Marcus Morris, Terry Rozier, and how can we forget to mention– Gordon Hayward? This Celtics team is loaded from top to bottom and what’s scary is that they have assets to bargain in a trade.

The only thing that could possibly stop the Celtics, is the Celtics. With each season that the team does well, it will raise the price on their own players. Until that time happens, Ainge can sit back and send thank you notes to the Sixers, Cavs, and Nets.
