Bound for Glory: Ace Austin wins the X Division title
Impact Wrestling held their annual Bound for Glory event. Every title from the X Division to the Tag belts to the Heavyweight title were on the line. Out of all the titles to be defended, only one actually changed hands. The X Division title was the only one to have a new winner and one that should not come as a surprise. The match that we saw at Bound for Glory saw the champion Jake Christ take on Ace Austin, Acey Romero, Daga, and Tessa Blanchard in a ladder match. This was historical because this is the first time a women was competing for a title normally held by men.
In case you aren’t aware, the X Division is essentially the Crusierweight division for Impact Division. As we have seen in promotions like the WWE, the Cruiserweight wrestlers are usually of the smaller stature. I bring this up because Acey Romero was in this match and is billed in at close to 400 pounds, The conclusion of this match saw Ace Austin use a weapon to hit Tessa with to climb up and win the belt. It shows you how much Impact Wrestling is behind Austin. The kid debuted in March and seven months later he is now holding the second biggest title in the company.
If you recall, Austin Aries made the X Division title feel like the Money in the Bank. He created a thing called Option C and we have seen people use the belt to go on to the main title. While I don’t see that happen because of who’s involved within the main event scene, it is something to think about. Ace Austin in my opinion is in the same boat like MJF and Austin Theory are in. You have three guys who are very young and are the future of this industry.
