Bound for Glory: Brian Cage retains his title in a brutal match
Impact Wrestling held their annual Bound for Glory event. The main event saw the Machine, Brain Cage defend his title against OVE leader Sami Callahan. A few weeks ago, I wrote how its time to put the belt on Sami Callahan. I said this because Cage had not really done much with the belt since he won it earlier this year. I’m aware a lot of that was due to his injury, but going into this match I really thought it would be Sami Callahan’s time.
However, the Brian Cage who was in the ring last night wasn’t the same Brain Cage we are use to. He looked and seemed more determined than ever. A lot of this is because of what Callahan did to Cage in the weeks leading up to their match. If you recall, Callahan performed a pile driver on Cage’s wife Melissa Santos. At that moment, Cage became a much different person. As far Cage winning last night, I still think it should of been Callahan’s time. But with that being said, I love how they made Cage look angrier. The Cage that was presented to us before hand just wasn’t doing it for me.
However, now it gets interesting. Impact Wrestling is set to debut on AXS TV. The next PPV is in January called A Hard Kill. I don’t suspect that this is the final time we see Callahan and Cage fight for the title. It would be interesting to see where they go being that this was a NO DQ match. If this was a regular match, then I could see the rematch being a NO DQ match. Maybe you can do the rematch at the next PPV and have it be a Falls Count Anywhere match.
Impact Wrestling will be interesting to see how they close out 2019.
