Bryce Harper Would Look Really Good In A San Francisco Giants Uniform

Bryce Harper

Could the San Francisco Giants be in the running for Bryce Harper? It’s being reported that the two sides have mutual interest. It’s a big move for the Bay Area ball club. Many analysts have them missing the playoffs. What could this mean for the franchise this year and next?

Harper is only 26 years of age. He’s just now entering his prime. The Giants believe they can compete with the addition of Harper. Currently, the Giants have an outfield of Chris Shaw, Steven Duggar, and Austin Slater. That’s not an All-Star caliber unit. Though, with San Fransisco’s infield, the outfield doesn’t need to be perfect.

The Giants have a stellar infield. Brandon Belt, Joe Panik, Brandon Crawford, Evan Longoria, and Buster Posey at catcher. That’s one of the better infield units in baseball. Adding Harper to that batting order makes the Giants a dangerous group.

Singing Harper is a long-term investment. The Giants, who seem to be ready to trade star pitcher Madison Bumgarner, don’t have the pitching to compete. This makes the signing seem like it’s more of a move for the future. Sure, the lineup looks great on paper, but any team with Dereck Rodriquez as their second starter has a lot of issues in the rotation.

What effect would Harper have on the team?

How much does Harper help the Giants offense? Last season, the San Francisco Giants ranked 10th in the National League in batting average ( .239), and 14th in OBP (.300). For 2018, Harper hit only .249, but had an impressive .393 OBP. His numbers should help the Giants, especially when it comes to getting on base.

One of the more telling stats of the Giants season was their home run totals. The team only hit 133. That was good for 14th in the National League. Harper hit 34 on his own. The pop in the lineup will be a big boost to the Giants. There’s no reason why he can’t put up the same numbers again.

Harper will help the San Fransisco Giants He’s one of the most polarizing figures in sports. The Giants will see a big boost in attendance and attention from the media with this move. Things for the Giants are about to get interesting.
