Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen Deserves A Lot Of Respect
You don’t have to like the Buffalo Bills. You don’t even have to like Josh Allen. However, if you’re a fan of the NFL and don’t have at least some degree of respect for the game against the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs, maybe football isn’t for you. What you saw on the field between these two quarterbacks was something short of remarkable.
First, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills left it all out on the field. When it comes to a playoff game, it can be easy for a quarterback to get in his head and start making simple mistakes. Allen took the field on every drive with poise and determination and came up big on every play he needed to. It wasn’t just dink-and-dunk football either. Every throw was well placed and right on the money. When they say a quarterback needs to “get to the next level”, that’s exactly what they’re talking about. Allen put his team on his back and came out and had command of the offense.
It might be hard for doubters to crown Josh Allen an elite quarterback but considering this wasn’t a regular season game, it was on their home field, and he went against one of the toughest opponents in the league. Patrick Mahomes has been ripping up the NFL since taking over the starting job. The fact that Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills kept pace with one of the best offenses in the game and still walked away from a road game having barely lost is a testament to his drive.

If not for a lame-duck of an NFL rule where if a touchdown is scored overtime ends, we might be talking about Josh Allen in a whole different light. Naysayers will say “if you want to complain about it, stop them on defense.” and those people are idiots. Clearly, none of them have watched football since Mahomes’ first start on Dec. 27, 2017. Stop Patrick Mahomes? Please. While it can be done, it’s not as simple as it looks. Especially with a gassed defense that has been sprinting up and down the field trying to cover 2-minute drills that resulted in 25 points at the end of the game.
If the Buffalo Bills won the toss to start overtime, no one would be talking about how they “chocked”. The Bills lost solely because they didn’t get possession in OT against one of the greatest quarterbacks playing the game right now. Take all your negative hate towards Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills and take it out on your team for not finding their version of Josh Allen. The playoff game between the Chiefs and Bills was one of the greatest duels in the history of the sport, and if you can’t respect that, you’re not a true fan of the sport.
