Carolina Panthers: 3 Improvements Cam Newton Must Make In 2018

The Carolina Panthers will go only as far as Cam Newton takes them. Is that too much pressure to put on one player? No. Not when Newton is a rare talent. From the moment he was drafted, Newton has been the leader, face of the franchise, and scapegoat for the team during their ups and downs. However, as much success as Newton has faced, he deserves the criticism that also comes his way.

Since entering the league in 2011, Newton has led the Panthers to just three winning seasons, four playoff trips, and one Super Bowl appearance. On the personal side, Newton is the Panthers’ all-time leading passer and third-leading rusher. He has put in the work but there is still more that he could improve on.

How many QB’s can say they have led a team to a 15-1 regular season record and still took heavy criticism that same year? Newton would go in to with the NFL MVP Award in 2015 but during the Super Bowl, his toughness and sacrifice to win were questioned after a fumble in which he did not dive on the turf for. Is it fair? Maybe, maybe not but this is what happens when you’re 6-5 245lbs and labeled as an elite player.

Entering the 2018 NFL season, many are wondering if Cam Newton is worth his weight in gold? How can a QB with his skill level and accolades still be considered average amongst some NFL fans? This is what Newton is facing as the new season approaches. In order for him to reach that Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Drew Brees level, Newton must improve on certain areas of his game.

Here are 3 improvements Cam Newton must make for the 2018 season.
