Chicago PD: Will Kim Suffer The Same Fate As Gabby And Matt?
The One Chicago Series is no stranger to sensitive topics on either of their shows. The cast of firefighters, medics, and cops protect and serve the Chicago Community in which some of them live. While Dick Wolf has done an amazing job with characters’ arc, it’s the small details in the storylines that have made shows such as Chicago Fire and Chicago PD two of the best on Primetime TV.
With Kim Burgess making a major life move in the adoption of Makayla, it brings fans back to the storyline where Matt and Gabby adopted Louie on Chicago Fire. All was well for a moment but then the biological father came along and wanted custody of his kid. Matt and Gabby were crushed and to be honest, their relationship never fully recovered.
Now, Kim is a little different here. Matt and Gabby were firefighters with basically a set schedule. Kim is a cop and when does the Intelligence Unit ever rest? Can she do this alone? And while she and Adam Ruzek are in some sort of weird relationship, Ruzek was not totally on board with her decision. Could this spell doom for the couple giving it a third go at a relationship?

While Makayla’s family was gunned down and her aunt decided she couldn’t do it, that leaves only Kim to take over. But is this what she wants or is she still grieving over the loss of her and Adam’s baby?
What fans are wondering is what the writers are setting us up for? Will this be another case where some relative comes out of the blue and tries to take Makayla away from Kim? Or, will Kim be able to handle the duties of not only a single mother but one with racial implications?
Many fans have waited for Kim Burgess to receive a better storyline but none expected it to be this drastic. Fans of the One Chicago Series are bracing themselves for another heartbreak but still holding out hope that it never comes.
