Dallas Cowboys: What to be Thankful for This November

NFL QB Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys

Each and every November people flood social media with their reasons to be thankful for Thanksgiving. Be it friends, family, or other loved ones its that time of year to put the struggles of the past 10 months and say thank you for what we have. This year NFL teams are not exempt. There are plenty of struggles on each of the 32 teams but each have their own reason to be thankful.

First up, the Dallas Cowboys.

This year, the Cowboys have plenty to be thankful for. They’ve got one of the best offensive lines in football. They were able to get a deal done to get Ezekiel Elliot back in the fold. At 5-3 they’re leading the NFC East barely edging out the Philadelphia Eagles. But the one thing the Dallas Cowboys need to be thankful for is their light schedule.

Cowboys fans looking to roll out their cliched “this is our year” might want to pump the brakes and pause for concern. Of their 5 wins, yes they’ve beat their division rivals 4 out of 5 wins, their lone victory outside the division was the Miami Dolphins. A win is still a win but the 31-6 score doesn’t tell the tale of the tape. Dallas struggled against a team that just got their win in week 9. One of their three losses came to the New York Jets, who not only lost to that same Dolphins team, beating the Cowboys in their only win this season.

A backloaded schedule could be their downfall so the Cowboys need to be thankful for their “easy” games to start the season. Losing to a tough Green Bay Packers team and struggling against the Saints shows that the Cowboys might not be ready to play against a playoff caliber team. Luckily for them, the rest of the division is struggling as well, but if the Dallas Cowboys want to prove they’re contenders they’ll have a tough road coming the back half of the season. They have plenty of winnable games left, but if they want to be Super Bowl ready, they’ll need to turn on their killer instinct. Cowboys and Cowboys fans, be thankful this Thanksgiving for a front-loaded easy schedule.
