Daredevil Season 3 Will Have Fans On Edge Of Their Seats

As Day 3 of New York Comic Con 2018 rolled around, only one panel was on my mind for the day–Daredevil. While I had scheduled a few others, the Marvel and Daredevil fan in me was ready to explode with excitement. Just this summer, I traveled down to Orlando Megacon in Orlando, Fla just hoping to catch a sneak peek into Season 3 of Daredevil. But no such luck as shooting just wrapped the day before.

Well, patience paid off as Marvel and Netflix waited to debut a few scenes of the new season just for the fans of New York Comic Con, and I must say, it was more than I expected.

To begin, I was a bit nervous with the 1:30 pm start time in Madison Square Garden. If you ever been to Comic-Con in New York, then you know what I mean. I arrived at 12:20 pm just to make sure I had a spot. But to my surprise and the other 500+ who figured showing up an hour early would guarantee a seat, let’s just say, we were wrong. We were told that the Daredevil panel was filled to capacity by 12 pm. Yes, Daredevil has a flowing like no other.

Luckily, some of the guests from earlier panels decided to leave the theater which allowed a nice portion of us to ease our way in. Once inside, the anticipation grew until the cast was introduced.

First to come on stage was new showrunner Erik Oleson. He was then followed by the three new characters Agent Rahul “Ray” Nadeem (Jay Ali), Sister Maggie (Joanne Whalley), and  Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter / Bullseye (Wilson Bethel). The new cast would then be joined on the stage by  Franklin “Foggy” Nelson (Elden Henson), Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Wilson Fisk/ Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), and then the man himself, Daredevil/ Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox).

At any Comic-Con, especially New York, fans are there for one thing– teasers. While we did not get to see the first episode, we were privileged to some behind the scenes footage of what’s in store to come for Daredevil Season 3.

The first two seasons focused on Daredevil’s need to save Hell’s Kitchen. Season 3 will take a darker approach as fans who love the red suit may not get to see Murdock don that for a while. The scenes that we were able to see, Cox was never in uniform. While Daredevil is the star, Season 3 will bring back one of fans beloved character, The Kingpin. With Fisk doing what he has to do in order to protect the woman he loves, that will spell trouble for all in his path.

During the panel, we also learned that Karen and Foggy are dealing with the death of Matt after the fallout from The Defenders. While Karen believes that Matt is still alive, Foggy has all but given up hope on his best friend. Showrunner Oleson would say that this is the season where Foggy/Matt/Karen will need to find a way to mend their friendship.

While the old cast that we love is back in the fold, it’s the mystery of two newcomers who may provide the most sparks. In one of the scenes we were shown, there was a quick glimpse of Dex wearing a baseball cap with the bullseye logo on it. As soon as the crowd caught it, everyone erupted in cheers. For months, rumors have swirled that Bullseye would make an appearance in Season 3. But to have it confirmed at Comic-Con was just awesome.

The reason I believe that Season 3 of Daredevil will be it’s best is due to the cast. As awesome as Season 1 was with Daredevil vs Fisk, Season 2 stepped it up a notch with the addition of The Punisher and Elektra. However, what Season 3 has in store is pure genius. It’s the culmination of relationships, friendships, honor, trust, loyalty, revenge, and soul-searching. Not to mention, it’s Daredevil vs The Kingpin and Bullseye. How can they not produce the best season ever?
