DC Comics: They are partners with a wrestling promotion, not WWE
DC Comics has been around since 1934. Professional Wrestling has been around since the late 1860’s to early 1870’s. It’s not until 2019 that the two paths have crossed. A few weeks ago, there was a report that came out saying that DC Comics was set to begin a partnership with a wrestling promotion. Being how large DC Comics is, the feeling was they would probably be teaming with the WWE. However Cody Rhodes sent out a tweet a few weeks ago about how Batman was All Elite. Here is the picture from Cody’s Twitter Account:
Once this picture went out, it got both the comic world and the wrestling world talking. We would end up finding out that DC Comics struck a deal with AEW Wrestling to create some AEW themed comics. We have seen comic renditions of several AEW people such as Cody and his dog Pharaoh. In addition, Kenny Omega and AEW Champion Chris Jericho have also made their comic debut. To the best of my knowledge, there isn’t an official full AEW comic out yet.
I love this move and I’m not surprised by this move. Since AEW has been around, they have been doing things like this. Over the summer, they held an event called Fyter Fest. This event was held during a weekend of video games. AEW has done so much in such little time. They are finding ways to attract new people through non wrestling things. They are getting more eyes on the product and for the long haul, it will work. As far as why I love this move, they are bringing in more people. DC Comics have been around for a number of years and I’m surprised a company like the WWE never thought of teaming up with them.
AEW Dynamite airs every Wednesday on TNT.
