Denver Broncos: Offseason Panic Mode 2021 Edition
The Denver Broncos are coming off yet another underperforming season. In 2020 the team looked like they didn’t have any direction. Can they rebound in 2021 and avoid panic mode?
Drifting through the Post-Manning Era
The Broncos don’t seem to look like a team with a clue once their future Hall of Fame quarterback. When Manning retired he took the offense with him. The Broncos seem to be in neutral with no clear sign of getting back on track.
Drawing Blanks
While they’ve had some pretty solid picks, they don’t seem to have struck gold. As a matter of fact, more often than not they seem to be striking out on their free agents and draft picks. Either they need to get better at scouting immediate impact talent or they need to get better at developing current talent in the offseason. The division is too lopsided to be missing out on key players.

Drew Lock! or Not?
While Denver may feel like they’ve got their guy right now, there are still too many rumors floating around their desire to upgrade. The Broncos were listed as one of the teams in on Deshaun Watson not too long ago. While it’s easy to dismiss the rumors you have to wonder about the base for them. Was Watson too tempting to pass up, or were the Broncos truly looking for an upgrade to their young quarterback?
Bulk Up Defense
It doesn’t matter how competent your offense is, if you don’t have ways to stop the Chiefs then you’re dead in the water. Denver needs to invest heavily this offseason at defensive back and guys who can make big plays. There need to be guys who consistently get turnovers and keep the big plays from happening, and it’s not just the Chiefs. In a division with Carr, Herbert, and Mahomes you can’t afford many missteps.
Chalk up the Denver Broncos’ struggles to a young team. They have talent but it’s a talent that needs more direction and leadership. If Denver can snag the type of player who takes the bull by the horn they’ll be right back to compete.
