Did the NFL make Brady vs Brees Too Early to Be Fun This Season?
The NFL schedule makers must have been salivating when the put the New Orleans Saints against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After all, future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady facing against future Hall of Famer Drew Brees usually would mean an exciting game.
Don’t get your hopes up fans, this kind of game early in the season is misleading. While Brady might be one of the winningest quarterbacks in history with the New England Patriots, but now he’s with Tampa Bay. Brady will be in the twilight of his career, on a new team, with new receivers, in a new offense. While it’s yet to been seen whether or not the Bucs will compete, no one knows how the preseason will shake out. Brady will have to develop chemistry with not only his new teammates but the coaching staff as well.

The Saints on the other hand have been pushing Super Bowl contenders the past couple years. While they have new players and personnel as well, their chemistry will pick up right where it left off from the season before. While the game might be close it won’t seem as exciting as the NFL would have you believe. Chemistry will be the difference maker when it comes to the week one match up.
Both the Saints and the Bucs have seasons worth looking forward to. One is on their way back on a Super Bowl path and the other has a good quarterback for the first time in forever. The Bucs pinned their struggles on the failures of Jameis Winston and therefore should have a quick turn around this year.
To be fair, the NFC South is always so up in the air. Whatever team made the playoffs the year before could turn around and go 7-9 the following season. But when you break down the rest of the season, it seems as if they jumped the gun to get this game on the schedule as soon as possible. While everyone wants to see two juggernauts going head to head. Saints fans are going to get their hopes up way too early to tell that they shouldn’t have to worry about Tom Brady.
If these NFL schedule makers were smart, they would’ve made it mid season for the first game when the players have come together and then with the playoffs on the line late in the season had the second game.
