Did the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Give Brady His Most Weapons Ever?
Tom Brady will have weapons this season. With the recent signing of Leonard Fournette, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are stacked this season. Looking ahead to the 2020 season will this be the most weapons Brady has had in his entire career?
First, take a look at his running backs. Brady has had his fair share of successful backs in his career in New England, but most of their success came at the reserve role who stepped up and made something out of nothing. Their next man up culture would allow them to constantly move on from productive backs choosing to allow them to walk in free agency rather than pay a hefty contract. Those players would step up, and eventually churn out productive seasons.

With no disrespect to the running backs and their days in Foxboro, Brady has never had a duo with the previous success like Fournette and veteran LeSean McCoy. Fournette has produced multiple 1000-yard seasons and McCoy is a former league leader. While his best days might be behind him, there’s still a chance he plays a big enough factor in their offensive attack. Even between the two of them, they’re not even atop the depth chart sitting at 2 and 3 respectively.
Then of course there’s the receiving game, Brady has had his weapons in his time in New England, but the Buccaneers have given him the one thing the Patriots hadn’t since the days of Randy Moss in a true #1 receiver in Mike Evans. The Pats had a ton of productivity out of their receivers but the deep threat was never part of their game plan on a regular basis. Chain-movers were the bread and butter.
In 2020 however, Brady with have his favorite target Rob Gronkowski paired with O.J. Howard. His two biggest receivers are Mike Evans and Chris Goodwin. The duo combined for 2400+ yards last season without a legendary quarterback under center. Statistically, their productivity might go down as Brady will spread the ball out, but effectiveness should multiply tremendously.
Yes, Tom Brady has had his fair share of weapons over the years but never quite at the same time. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers want to ensure they’re getting their organization back up to speed while they wait for their quarterback of the future. For now, Tom Brady might go back to his record-setting ways.
