Disney: What New Lands And Experiences Can We Expect?
Walt Disney World and Disneyland are the premier tourist attractions in the USA. To keep things fresh, the six parks that make up the American locations are always innovating themselves with new lands and experiences. We’ve got some amazing new additions over recent years such as Pandora, Avengers Campus, New Fantasyland, Cars Land, Toy Story Land, and Galaxy’s Edge. New themed lands are always in the works to improve the guest experience. What do we want to see as Disney expands their offerings?
Indiana Jones
The rumor of Dino Land USA in Animal Kingdom receiving an upgrade has been around for years. The Indiana Jones land has been the one IP that’s mentioned most often as a replacement. The land fits perfectly within the infrastructure.
Dinosaur, the main attraction in Dino Land, uses the exact same ride system (and layout) as the Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland. There’s also the kid’s fossil dig play area (The Boneyard), a seemingly easy transition to an archeological dig site themed to Indy.
You’d need to replace the Din-o-Rama area currently in the land, possibly to a more elaborate dessert theme similar to that of Raiders of the Lost Ark (or separate it from the Indy IP altogether). Indy could work in Animal Kingdom, as could the next possibility.
Zootopia
Disney is building a Zootopia land based on the fictional city from the film in Shanghai Disneyland. The talk has always been to replace Rafiki’s Planet Watch with the new project. The biggest reason for this, a train that currently takes guests to and from RPW and Animal Kingdom fits the film’s story arc.

The main character, Judy Hops, takes the train into Zootopia, giving us our big reveal of the elaborate city design. Think of this as Disney’s answer to the Hogwarts Express in Universal.
It would be the attractions, not only the train, which will take center stage. Imagine a Flash Driving School attraction. You’d also probably see some sort of Elephant Popsicle as well. Last, but not least, the theming would be out-of-this-world give the vast scope of what we saw in the film.
Lester’s Possum Park
If you’ve seen A Goofy Movie, you’ll know exactly why this needs to happen. The Possum Park doesn’t need to be big or elaborate. I’m thinking of a very small section of a park (Possibly Animation Courtyard/ Star Wars Launch Bay) to house an animatronic possum show like the one featured in A Goofy Movie.
Disney should try and add some old county theming, playground equipment, and Lester appearances to give it the finishing touch. You’d have a space that acts as a Kid’s play area (Hollywood Studios was known for one in particular). If you want to go full A Goofy Movie, add a Powerline show as well (that’s just wishful thinking).
Municiberg
Technically Walt Disney World already has this in Hollywood Studios. The general area where Toy Story Midway Mania used to be housed, is now considered Municiberg. It doesn’t really have the same appeal. Disney needs to get creative with this theme. Add some set pieces, more food options, characters, actors, something similar to Ghost Town Alive at Knott’s Berry Farm.
This is an option that could work at both American parks (all of the aforementioned options can as well). This would be a different offering for Disney. While Galaxy’s Edge has the same sort of interactivity as Ghost Town Alive and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, adding a second sort of interactive land would greatly improve the experience at any park. Kids could interact with all of the Incredible family, and even the citizens of Municiberg. And of course, Jack’s nom nom cookie will always be available.
These are just some options for Disney to explore. The possibilities are plentiful given their catalog.
