Disney’s annual D23 kicked off a weekend of excitement. Their annual showcase put their new streaming service on display on Friday night and kicked off the future of their streaming plans. With Disney+ they’ve put on a display for the companies entertainment future. With a library that includes Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and the Simpsons Disney+ has enough content to binge until you tv breaks.

So much is riding on Disney+ to change the future of streaming that it’s almost too big to fail. Not only do they have the weight of their television and cinema films, but they’ll also be able to capitalize on the straight to DVD market that will surely pivot to straight to streaming services. No longer will the have to market these below blockbuster quality films. Now they’ll have the opportunity to keep their family-friendly sequels or their lower budget remakes directly to consumers for them to stumble upon at their leisure.

Of course, if you’re looking for the next big thing in their growing list of franchises, then the announcement of the next wave of Marvel shows had to get you pumped. Between a Moon Knight, a She-Hulk, and a Ms. Marvel series Disney has already expanded past the Avengers and brought characters to the screen we thought we’d never get to see. That’s of course on top of their already announced Loki, WandaVision, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier plans that were already set in motion. And those are just their Marvel titles.

Disney+ already has Star Wars in the hopper with their new show The Mandalorian, directed by Jon Favreau. Without Favreau’s directing all the way back on the first Iron Man movie the MCU may have never gained the popularity that it did. Iron Man was the perfect balance between wit and character development that had audiences coming back for more. If he can create similar energy for The Mandalorian, then Star Wars might be able to bounce back from the rocky road fans think their on with the latest trilogy.

But, of course, if weekly releases aren’t your thing, Disney+ will have enough content to keep you occupied. With a promised Signature Collection of classic Disney films, 30 seasons of The Simpsons, 500 Disney Channel episodes, and all the content already pulled from other streaming services there will be no shortage of things to watch. Top it all off with a low price of just $7 a month? Disney+ might just corner the market on streaming services.
