Disney+ Won’t Topple Netflix Anytime Soon As Top Streaming Service
Disney+ will forever change the face of streaming services. The network will feature all of the studios animated and live-action classics, original programs, and older shows on its platform. With that being said, it’s still not going to beat out Netflix. They are, and always will be king of the streaming service.
One thing Netflix has going for it is the sheer library of original programs. Disney won’t be able to match that. Neither Hulu or Amazon have been able to in their existence. While Disney+ will feature its fair share of originals with Marvel, Muppets, Star Wars, and others, they just won’t be able to topple Netflix.
On the topic of originals, Netflix puts out quality content as well. While we’ve yet to see how good the Disney+ offerings will be, the studios will have their hands full if they intend to match the quality of Netflix. That’s one of the main draws to Netflix is the quality of the original shows and movies.
If you aren’t a Disney fan, will you really enjoy Disney+? The main appeal are the animated classics from the Disney vault. Sure that’ll sell itself to most people, but, to those who want an alternative to cable, Netflix offers just a bit more. Not to mention, Disney will never have the diverse lineup of stuff Netflix has due to its stance on violence and mature content.
One thing we’ve heard about Disney+ is they will be releasing their shows weekly. Unlike Netflix, who offer the entire season at once, Disney+ will premiere one episode of a series each week. It’s a bold strategy, one that even Netflix has toyed around with, however, that’s part of the appeal of Netflix. To have every episode available to you on the premiere date has become their calling card.
Netflix has its distinct advantages. Aside from the ones mentioned, the price is relatively affordable for all you get. However, for those who are on a budget, you really can’t expect them to cut Netflix out to switch to Disney+. For now, Netflix has the advantage of being the top dog.
Some might find Disney+ to be a better value than Netflix. When it comes down to it, all the Disney service has over Netflix is Marvel, Star Wars, and animated classics. For some, that’s enough to switch. For most, though, Netflix offers a bit more. In the end, it’s the better service.
