From childhood classic to live-action film, Winnie the Pooh has been around for decades. There’s something about the soft-spoken bear that draws in the crowd with family-friendly fun. No matter how old the character gets, generations have flocked to theaters to see the latest films. We’ve sat at home watching cartoons with our children. From fan favorite to reimagining, Pooh and the gang live on in Disney’s Christopher Robin.

Even as of late, Winnie the Pooh remains as relevant as ever. The online community has been part of a debate as some falsely believe Pooh is a female bear. While the debate is irrelevant to the story, it has sparked a conversation that hopefully, the latest film will clear up. Disney’s Christopher Robin appears to be an origin story similar to their fresh take on the Mary Poppins tale Saving Mr. Banks. One of the more important things to remember is these movies, much like the characters are often based on a true story not a line for line recreation of the events that unfold. Stories are told throughout time and change little by little to suit the times the author lives in.

While people chose to believe the information in front of them, often times “based on a true story” or “inspired by a true story” doesn’t tell the whole story. Will Disney’s Christoper Robin tell the origin of everyone’s favorite child time bear? Will it breathe life into the theory that each character in the children’s book relates to a mental disorder? Will they even give the true nature of the characters origin? Unfortunately, if you’re one of the people seeing it for this nature you’ll probably be disappointed. Remember, it is a children’s story, released by the same creators as the “happiest place on Earth” in Disney. Christopher Robin is more than likely the family-friendly film the character has grown into throughout the years in live action form.
