Don’t Remove Your Only Remaining Water Ride, Carowinds

Carowinds

What are you doing, Carowinds? It appears the park is retiring Rip Roaring Rapids. It’s an interesting turn of events, seeing as this is the only water ride at the dry park. Is this indeed going away, or does this mean a refurbishment is on the way?

It’s strange Carowinds decided to take out Roaring Rapids in the first place. There was very little talk about this happening. When the park released their 2019 map, a lot of the Carowinds community was shocked at what they saw.

A lot of rumors have been circulating as to what Carowinds might be putting in the River Rapids spot. Some believe it’s going to be a complete overhaul of the former rapids ride. Others have the idea it’ll be something new and different.

We can throw out the idea of a new coaster. It’s doubtful they’d be putting one in after this year’s Copperhead Strike. Cedar Fair has said they’ll be less big coasters per year. And seeing as Carowinds got their new coaster, the likelihood of them getting a new coaster is very slim.

If Carowinds would build a flat ride, that’s something which would really add to the park. How about taking one of the flats from Canada’s Wonderland and bringing that design to Carolina? Could there be a swinging pendulum ride in the park’s future?

In the end, Carowinds might just be revamping Roaring Rapids. A lot of Cedar Fair’s newest attractions have been themed. While Roaring Rapids is far away from Blue Ridge Junction and Copperhead Strike, there’s a possibility Carowinds themes the rapids ride, not to Blue Ridge Junction, but something much different.

What could a revamp of Roaring Rapids look like? Considering the attraction isn’t near any real themed sections of the park, it’s anyone’s guess as to what they have cooked up. Perhaps a theme to the Carolina’s, although, what would you put into that ride?

The park will probably not scrap the rapids ride. Seeing as that’s their only water attraction in the dry park, don’t expect them to get rid of Roaring Rapids. It’s a possibility they park is indeed getting rid of this attraction, just don’t expect that to be the case.
