Emmanuel Sanders Is The Key Ingredient To San Francisco 49ers Success
The San Francisco 49ers made a huge move to acquire Denver Broncos WR, Emmanuel Sanders. This was about as big of a move as the team could have made. Jimmy Garoppolo finally has his number 1 target. As a result, San Fran might finally be considered a true contender.
As the QB goes, so does your team. Garoppolo hasn’t had the most successful season thus far. Despite going 14-2 as the 49ers starter, he’s being labeled as nothing more than a game manager. That’s unfair criticism. Jimmy G. has never had a true top option at WR. He’s showed that the addition of Sanders is exactly what was needed.
Sanders is at the top of his game. The 32-year-old was having a great season for the Broncos. Playing with notable game managing QB, Joe Flacco, Sanders goes from a mediocre QB option to one of the NFL’s most promising signal callers in Garoppolo. It’s a move that’ll help both in the long run.
With a 8-0 record, the Niners are rolling. They demolished the Carolina Panthers 51-13 on October 27th. In that game, Sanders had 4 receptions for 25 yards and a TD. Not overly exciting numbers, but a good start. Once Garoppolo gets accustomed to Sanders, those 4 reception, 25 yard games will make way for much larger outings. He showed that during the Niners Week 8 win over Arizona, as he went 7 for 112 and a TD.
Sanders has made an impact. To give an idea of how bad the 49ers WR core had been, take a look at how they compared to Sanders going into his first game with San Francisco in a Week 8 matchup against Carolina.
San Francisco’s top two WR’s, Deebo Samuel and Marquise Goodwin, had a combined 26 receptions. Sanders had a total of 30. He already caught more balls than Garoppolo’s top two WR targets before stepping foot on the field with the team.
One of the biggest criticisms of the San Francisco 49ers has been the offense. They’ve got a great rushing attack. The passing game has been rather poor. If you can stop the run, you’ll stop the offense. With Sanders in the mix, head coach, Kyle Shanahan, will need to call more passing plays. The offense won’t be near as one-dimensional. And that’s what happened against Arizona.
Give San Francisco 49ers General Manager, John Lynch, his due. He went out and traded for one of the best available WR’s on the market. It shows how committed this franchise is to winning. It has been quite some time since the 49ers have been this good. The team knows the fans want a winner, they are dedicated to bringing them just that.
Emmanuel Sanders is the missing piece for this 49ers team. He’ll add another level to the offense, allowing them to score more points. Having Sanders will add to Jimmy G’s confidence and enable him to be more than just a game manager.
