Food: Wendy’s Hits the Breakfast Market At Full Speed

Wendy’s Breakfast

Well, the day is officially upon us. Wendy’s has joint the breakfast game and they’ve upped the ante. Burger King and McDonald’s have long held down the fort when it comes to the fast-food breakfast world. Even Taco Bell got in on the mix a few years back. Wendy’s might be late to the party but it seems they’ve hit the ground running.

Not only is Wendy’s guaranteeing you’ll love their breakfast menu offerings, but they’ll also remake your order by the next business day for free. Luckily for us, we don’t have to go back again with a receipt, having a little problem with breakfast.

So far, Wendy’s joins the standard breakfast hours starting at 6:30a and ending at 10:30a. While McDonald’s expanding their breakfast offerings to an all-day menu, Wendy’s doesn’t have the gimmick of bringing customers back in the door mid-day for breakfast. Their burgers have the lunch urge covered.

A full menu is available for breakfast too. Instead of starting small with just the McMuffin, Wendy’s rolled out 3 croissant sandwiches, 6 biscuit options, 6 side items, 4 coffee items, and even a Breakfast Baconator. Of course, we went with the Baconator.

Other than the usual Wendy’s service, which consists of little interaction and always forgetting straws, there was little to no issue with getting theirs for breakfast. While lines we expected, the drive-thru had just a couple of people in it at 9 am. Good for us, not a great sign for their master plan.

With all that being said, Wendy’s breakfast was surprisingly good. The Baconator combo came with a side of seasoned potatoes and we tried their Frosty-ccino, chocolate of course. The seasoned potatoes were reminiscent of the potato wedges at KFC only thinner, crispier, and better tasting. The Frosty-ccino started off a little disappointing but a few sips in the Frosty flavor jumped out and quickly resolved the cup of coffee. The only set back was the lack of a medium as a small seemed too little so a large had to be ordered. Those who love their morning coffee ought to be pleased, however.

Now that Wendy’s is in the breakfast game, we might have to cut our losses with the greasy world of McGriddles. So far, Wendy’s is 1 for 1 on customer satisfaction with their breakfast in my book. The more I try, the better the opportunity to make mistakes. However, Wendy’s might end up in the rotation for a normal breakfast meals. Especially with very reasonable price points.
