Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Spinoff Is In The Works
It’s about time. According to The New York Post, Will Smith is working on a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spinoff. Wow!!! With the actor still getting checks from the original show, Smith is set to take his stardom to another level. As Smith’s new movie “Gemini Man” gets set to hit theaters, it seems the star can do no wrong. Alladin was a huge success and with Bad Boys 3 finished, Smith has his eys on Primetime TV, yet again.
Rumors of a reboot have popped up in the two-plus decades since the show went off the air, as the cast still stays in touch and reunites on occasion. When E! asked Smith about a potential remake in 2016, he quickly shut down the possibility, saying, “I don’t think ever, like pretty close to when hell freezes over. Like we’re going to leave that one alone.”
The bigger question is who will star in the spinoff and what will it be about? The most logical choice would be to have he and his family as the main stars. With Jada Pinkett-Smith, Willow, Jaden, and Will leading the way, how could they go wrong? It could be the exact opposite of the original. Maybe the family could hit it rich and move to Los Angeles or they can focus on Willow as the main character with Will and Jada playing a similar role as Uncle Phil and Aunt Viv.
With major movie stars finding their way back to the small screen lately, this could be something special for any network willing to take a chance on this show. Will Smith has the golden ticket no matter what he touches as fans have been waiting for a move like this. To add more fuel to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air rumors is that Smith has just released a Bel-Air Clothing line named and designed after the same uniform he wore on the show. Stay tuned.
