Gaming: Is It Time To Reboot Earthworm Jim?
Old school gaming platform gaming might not be as popular as it once was, but the characters will live on for some time. The world of games transitioned to more 3D worlds and the old side-scrolling games just don’t hit like they used to. The 90s were filled with great games and there’s plenty to look back on. With reboots all the rage, is it time to dive back into an old favorite, Earthworm Jim?

More Gaming:
Earthworm Jim might not have the longevity of classic characters like Mario or Sonic the Hedgehog, but it was one of the more unique games of its time. It was fun and energetic with a twist of humor. It was a chaotic shooter that stood out from the typical pack. True it followed the same path as any other side-scroller but it had the enemies that were just as funny as they were vicious.
With next-gen consoles, its time to bring the old favorite back. Now that Sony is creating their version of Game Pass that will be similar to Xbox, older games could make a comeback. People may not pay $60+ for a reboot that might not live up to the hype. However, there’s a market for nostalgia should this make its gaming come back.
Imagine Earthworm Jim in the same style looter-shooter as say Borderlands. Each gun could have different perks. You could upgrade your suit to bring the chaos down on enemies. There could even be a series of powerups and grenades to create even more chaos.
It would be hard to transition to a 3D world, but someone should try. The popularity of the character with the snarky remarks and humor could be as fun for this generation as well as long-time fans. Earthworm Jim deserves the reboot treatment same as any other game from the 90s getting their shot.
