GI Joe: Snake Eyes Is Set To Begin Filming This Week
I’ll be the first to admit this, but I was not a fan of the two original GI Joe films. However, with Snake Eyes set to begin filming this week, there is a chance for redemption. With the cast finally set after the addition of Samara Weaving, GI Joe fans should be ready to rejoice. Weaving will take over the role of Scarlett.
According to Screen Rant, the cast is filled out, especially the main cast;
The movie has already filled out most of its lead roles, including Snake Eyes’ teacher Hard Master (Iko Uwais) and his brother-turned sworn enemy Storm Shadow (Andrew Koji). More recently, Úrsula Corberó signed on to costar in the film as Ana Lewis aka. The Baroness, the head of intelligence operation for the G.I. Joe property’s big bad Cobra. Now, another key female character has been cast in Snake Eyes.
What makes Snake Eyes the best choice for a spinoff is the action that should be involved. Snake Eyes himself was the best character in the franchise. Despite being the only non-speaking member of the Task Force, he often added that spark of excitement when his character made an appearance. His fighting style in the TV shows and movies offered excitement espicially going against his nemesis, Storm Shadow.
What should be expected is plenty of hand-to-hand combat and a storyline that should blow both of the original GI Joe movies out the water. It’s been a long time coming for this spinoff but with the huge success of the Transformers franchise, coupled with the great reviews of Bumblee, Paramount is ready to usher in a universe they hope can rival that of DC and Marvel.
It will be a tall task trying to take the big heavyweights down, but starting everything off with a GI Joe: Snake Eyes release, is a huge step forward.
