God Of War: Full Completion Game Review – Cavemen Radio Show

God of War

Cavemen Radio show might be late to the party, but for those of you looking to pick up Santa Monica Studio’s latest God of War, the wait will be worth it. Having played the game beginning to end and completing the story has been one of the more challenging of the franchise. Not because the game is tremendously difficult by any means, but the sheer temptation to run off and do side quests is always there.

From the start, God of War felt a little different this time around. Not only did the game switch from the traditional Greek mythology of the first 3 games to Norse, when we see our hero Kratos he’s a shell of what he once was. Still, the ever powerful Sparta, gone are the days of the Blades of Chaos, traded out for a Leviathan ax. No longer is he trying to avenge his families death and appears to have a family of his own.

The game shifts from a solo campaign as Kratos now has to team up with his son Atreus as they carry out the final wishes of his wife and sons mother. Using Atreus as a companion throughout the game is a must. Of course, you can try the old hack and slash that was at the forefront of the previous games, but plenty of battles he ends up being a great decoy. Between using his bow to back you up, jumping on the backs of foes, and occasionally tossing a heal spell he more than carries his own weight.

Don’t worry die hard fans, the Blades of Chaos are in there. You do get to hack and slash your way through enemies in all directions.

Aside from the main story, the side missions are just as complicated. With plenty to seek out and find to make Kratos/Atreus stronger, there is also the challenges of defeating 8 valkyries throughout the game proving to be one of the harder challenges in the game. Once you’ve completed the main quest, you can free roam to complete secondary tasks.

Speaking of the end of the game, the story left the door open for one hell of an expansion pack. Throughout the story, there were parts teased that the game never fully explored. Combine that with the big reveal at the end of the game and players will be left with a lot of wondering and demand for more. Released back on April 20th, God of War might be down to a discount price soon for those waiting to buy at a lesser price. Hopefully, there’s an expansion soon before the next wave of PlayStation exclusives hit.[CMRickTwitter]
