Godzilla: King Of the Monsters – Final Trailer

Godzilla

Godzilla has been around since the early days of cinema. It seems as though there hasn’t been a time where the king of Kaiju hasn’t appeared on the big screen. Every decade or so there’s a new iteration pushing the limits of visually stunning effects and oversized chaos. The latest Godzilla: King of the Monsters is set to release later this month.

“Following the global success of 2014’s “Godzilla” and this year’s “Kong: Skull Island,” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse: an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history”

Warner Bros. Press release

“The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”

All in all, Godzilla: King of the Monsters looks to capture the usual success of the Kaiju movies. Visually the effects look to be the bet we’ve seen out of a killer monster movie. Warner Bros/Legendary Pictures clearly focused on making a spectacle of the worlds greatest monster. Bringing back the monster movie has been a slow task as of late but with the success of the first Godzilla, Pacific Rim, and Kong: Skull Island the MonsterVerse is off and running. There have even been rumors of a crossover film featuring the three biggest on screen Kaiju. Imagine a world where we get to see Godzilla and King Kong fight Jaegers for the fate of the world we live in. It would be a visual spectacle like no other.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters releases Friday, May 31st.
