When it comes to television shows, one of the biggest goals is to get a spinoff show done. We have seen this with shows like Big Bang Theory with Young Sheldon, Friends saw Joey, All in the Family had Maude and the Jeffersons, and others. It is worth mentioning the chance of another one being added to the long list. There are rumblings, through several sites, that the hit ABC show The Goldbergs may be having a spinoff show.

The spinoff which they will call the Goldbergs: 1990s or something will look at the Goldberg family with all three of the kids in college. This series will be done a bit different from others. According to Deadline, the network has only picked up the pilot and not the series. My hunch is they are looking to see how the pilot does before going ahead with the series. As it is said to be, the pilot will be airing on January 24th. It will air during the regular time slot of the Goldbergs. They are promoting this as a special airing.

I have been a fan of the Goldbergs since they have been on the air. I wasn’t born in the 1980s, but they make it funny. A show that is set in an era when I was born will be great. My hope is that they continue to bring the jokes and the lines with this show. If they pick it up, I want them to continue to make the era related references. Being how much Beverly, the mother, is overbearing, I am very curious to see how she would react to having no kids in the house. It is worth noting that the older daughter, Erica, is already in college. As far as the brothers, I think Barry would be interesting to see in college.

The special will air on January 24, 2018, in the regular time slot for the Goldbergs.
