Golden State Warriors deny LeBron James G.O.A.T. status with NBA Finals win
The Golden State Warriors are the NBA Champs for the 2nd time in three seasons. Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Co denied LeBron James his chance to inch closer to the game’s legends and G.O.A.T. status with yet another NBA Finals defeat. James was on a mission to quiet the doubters that no one can beat this high-powered Warriors team. However, he will have another offseason to ponder what went wrong.
The Warriors won the “Durant Sweepstakes” when their former enemy decided to pull a LeBron and form a Super Team of his own in Oakland. While the critics came out in droves, Durant entered the year with a mission. He didn’t care about scoring titles or MVP’s– he wanted a ring. And how fitting was it to get it against a player he has been compared to and one who beat him in his only Finals appearance?
With this victory– the Warriors can stake a claim as one of the greatest teams in NBA history.
With the Cavs down 3-1– many wondered if they were primed for another comeback as they did in 2016. However, the Warriors were not about to let their missteps of 2016 turn into another offseason of depression.
For LeBron– this was his moment to be mentioned or as some will say– pass Michael Jordan as the G.O.A.T– but he choked yet again.
What’s next for the Warriors? An offseason full of high-priced contracts and questions to be answered. But for now– they are NBA Champs.
And LeBron– he will never be G.O.A.T.
