Goosebumps 2 : Haunted Halloween Trailer – Cavemen Radio Show

Goosebumps

When it comes to Halloween, every year there are scary movies released. Some geared more towards adult and true horror, the rest geared to family-friendly fun comedy with a little bit of spook. This year will be no different. With the Halloween franchise returning to studios, the adults are set. So what about the kids? Of course, studios wouldn’t leave them out on the fun. That’s where Goosebumps 2 comes in with their latest.

“Slappy is back to wreak more havoc this Halloween in a brand-new comedy adventure based on R.L. Stine’s 400-million-selling series of books.”

Growing up with books like Goosebumps and tv shows like Are You Afraid of the Dark? made the children’s horror genre but creepy and fun. As goofy and family friendly as they were, there was just enough about the writing that kept the audiences with a sense of intrigue. With none of the original cast returning to the sequel, it might just be a tough sell for the Sony Pictures. With the original released in 2015 on a $58 million dollar budget, sliding in at just under $150 million at the box office doesn’t really qualify it as a blockbuster.

History has shown that sequels typically do worse than their predecessors and just might be the case with Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween. Still, there aren’t enough kid-friendly movies that end up in theaters revolved around Halloween so maybe there’s a boost from that. With 62 total Goosebumps books published over time, there are plenty of stories to choose from that could keep the franchise propped up if the studio has any run at success. If not, it could be a short-lived adventure for the R.L. Stine influenced properties. Kid-friendly Halloween films typically are straight to DVD affair, can Goosebumps overcome that legacy or will it be streaming only from here on out?[CMRickTwitter]
