Heath: Is Apple Fitness+ Subscription Worth It?
When it comes to losing weight, there are all sorts of challenges before us. Every excuse we can think of pops up for why we don’t have the time to stay fit. Whether we don’t have the time, it costs too much money, or we set “eventual” goals we never find the time to focus on ourselves. Apple is attempting to make it a little easier with their subscription service Apple Fitness+ but is it worth the $9.99/month price tag.
Not Another Subscription Service:
Between streaming apps, food delivery apps, grocery apps, and music apps we’ve got too many services in-home we’re already paying for, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. So adding yet another service seems a bit too costly. But be honest with yourself, how many of those services are you actually using? How many of you have a gym membership that you either forget to cancel or keep because one day you’ll really want to go?
Before Fitness+ I had a Planet Fitness membership that was used periodically throughout the year but never worth the $20/month I’d pay. By adding Apple’s Fitness+ service I go from $20 a month in gym fees to cutting it in half at $9.99 freeing up that money to put back in my pocket.

Having the Spare Time?:
I get it. By the time you get up and get ready, go to the gym, change and workout, change and go home, shower, and settle in that’s 2 to 3 hours of your day. No one has that much time to sacrifice their busy schedule to workout. That’s where Fitness+ comes in.
With the app, they have anywhere from a 10-minute quick session to a 45-minute workout. You don’t have to commit to hours of your time, you can do it all from home in small intervals. Each workout is designed to be easy to complete but challenging enough to not slug you down in pain.
No Home Gym?:
So you find the time but don’t have all the fancy equipment to work out. No worries, Fitness+ has you covered. There’s more than just bulky expensive machinery to collect dust in your home. You get HIIT workouts, Yoga, Dance, Core, and Strength workouts. Should you have a treadmill or stationary bike at home there are videos for those as well. At the very least, with the workouts the very least I’ve used a couple of dumbbells and free space in my home.
In order to set up with Apple Fitness+, you will need a couple of things. An Apple Watch and somewhere to stream it from. You have to have either an iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV, but when you add up the cost of a Peloton Bike ($12.99 sub) or Mirror Home Workout ($39 sub) you’re paying significantly less. You can get an Apple Watch for as low as $279 and an Apple TV for $179 and hook it up to any home television. Those other services and equipment can cost a minimum of $1200-$1500 plus a subscription.

Can’t You Find These Videos on Youtube?:
I’m sure you could but remember you’re low on time. Fitness+ gives you new workouts in each category every week. It would take hours to come up with a list to find those kinds of workouts then you’d have to search each week to find something new to challenge yourself. Apple puts them all in one place at a cost that is less than what you pay for Netflix.
Challenge Your Friends:
The best part is Apple Fitness with tracks your progress. With the Apple Watch, it will track your movement, your exercise goals, and your stand goals. It also allows you to challenge your friends. When you get notifications directly to your wrist with your friend’s progress, it gives you a constant reminder to find time for yourself as well. Seeing their progress as well as their awards is the little reminder throughout the day that motivates you to stay on track and not get distracted.
Is Apple Fitness+ worth the $10/month? Absolutely! When you can get devices you need for less than $500 with up to the minute workouts, challenges your friends and family, and pushes you to meet your goals it goes a long way. Despite everyone’s approach to Apple’s pricing, the value of the service far outshines others right now.
