Holidays: No, It’s Not Too Early For Christmas

Christmas Trees

Now that Thanksgiving is fastly approaching, we’re ready to kick off the 2020 holiday season. Halloween has already passed but Thanksgiving and Christmas are the times to unwind and enjoy time with our families. 2020 has been a trying year for most and we could all use a little time to unwind with loved ones. Unlike covid, there’s a battle we fight every year. When to start Christmas festivities.

Every year it seems the ads play earlier and the stores start setting up their sales way before Thanksgiving. Some even hit the red and green turn before Halloween even rolls around. Not long after will the “OMG! Can we at least make it through Thanksgiving” people will come out of the woodwork with their anti-Xmas message. Sadly, more often than not these are the ones who cram all their holiday prep into a short window and don’t get to enjoy the fun of the holidays.

When it comes to Christmas, I say the earlier the better. First and foremost, Christmas is the one holiday that spans more than just a day of prep time. There’s the saving, the shopping, the wrapping and so much more involved with the holiday. Even if you spend a good amount of time buying food for Thanksgiving, what’s the worst it takes a day or two of prep time. No one is skipping Thanksgiving, we’re all trying to be more prepared for the event that is the Christmas season.

If you are anything like me, you like to get your Christmas stuff out of the way early. Not to celebrate before Halloween or Thanksgiving, but to give yourself the proper amount of time to enjoy those holidays as well. Most people flip a switch a couple of days before Thanksgiving and go into Black Friday or Cyber Monday mode and immediately start their holiday anxiety. By getting a large chunk of your holiday stuff done beforehand you can take more off your plate, while simultaneously adding more to your dinner plate.

No one is ignoring the holidays before Christmas just because they get their prep done early. If 2020 has taught us anything it’s that we all need a moment to relax and enjoy our time together. By getting your holiday stress out of the way early it gives you more time to relax, make gingerbread houses, bake all your Christmas goodies, and kick your feet up.

Plus the earlier you get it done, the less likely you’ll be broke going into the new year and struggling to pay your bills. Leave the early Christmas people alone and just enjoy the holiday season.
