Impact: New #1 contender crowned at Unbreakable
On Friday night, Impact Wrestling held their latest pay-per-view, Unbreakable. While there were quality matches on this card, there was one match that everyone is talking about. The main event saw the rematch from Slammiversary of Sami Callahan and Tessa Blanchard. We got this match because they won a tag team tournament.
After what we saw at Slammiversary, there was a lot of expectations going into this match. Overall, it was a decent match. Sami and Tessa have chemistry in the ring and can tell a good story. At the end, Sami Callahan got the pin and is now the #1 contender for the Impact Heavyweight title. While nothing has been announced as of this writing, I suspect we see this match happen at Bound for Glory in October. I am starting to get the feeling that Impact Wrestling is pushing OVE like NXT is pushing Undisputed Era. Both teams are getting a lot of TV time and are getting put into title matches.
We already saw Jake Christ capture the X Division belt. With Sami Callahan going after the Impact title, it leaves Madmen Fulton and Dave Christ on the outside. Being that Christ holds the X Division belt and Callahan is after Cage, maybe Dave Christ and Fulton can go after the tag belts.
However, we need to talk about Tessa . She lost both matches to Sami Callahan. It was reported that she was gunna get a major push. While she looked good in both bouts, where can she go from here. She has already won the Knockouts belt. In addition, she has already worked with most of the women Impact wrestlers. Unfortunately, she did resign a two year deal with them last summer. Once that is up, I highly suspect she heads for AEW. I think right now, she continues to do what she does.
