Impact: The move to AXS TV will be a game changer
The wrestling landscape is having the biggest change in years. It seems that October has become the month where we will see the most changes occur. For starters, AEW is set to begin on TNT on October 2nd. NXT will also be on USA come October 2nd. I’m aware that they are starting earlier, but those are only an hour at a time. NWA is set to start shooting material for their TV show in October. Smackdown is set to move to Fox in October as well. You can now add Impact Wrestling to the list.
As we found out a few days ago, Anthem, the parent company of Impact, bought a majority stake in axs tv. We heard today that Impact Wrestling will be moving to AXS TV after Bound for Glory. As Tommy Dreamer said on Busted Open, “it’s the best wrestling that no one sees.” I know he works for the company, but it’s true. Ever since this current regime came into power, they have been making Impact Wrestling great. Some people have made the argument that this is the best Impact has been since the early days of AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Christohper Daniels. The company is set to hold their annual Bound for Glory event and the main event is Brian Cage vs. Sami Callahan for the Impact title. They are a company that will continue to raise the bar.
With them moving to AXS TV, there’s something interesting to see how it plays out. They will be on the same network as NJPW. NJPW currently has a working relationship with Ring of Honor. It will be interesting to see if NJPW breaks off the relationship with ROH to form a new one with Impact. However, there have now been rumors going around of Impact Wrestling possibly buying Ring of Honor.
When we get to Thanksgiving, you will have WWE, AEW, NXT, NWA, and possibly Impact with either NJPW or ROH or both. Time will tell, but it’s a great time to be a wrestling fan right now.
